Let go of other people's stress and learn to hold your space

The Importance of Energy Hygiene: Why It Matters More Than You Realise

In a world that never slows down, protecting your inner well-being is just as important as taking care of your body. Most people understand physical hygiene — brushing your teeth, showering, eating well. But far fewer think about “energy hygiene”: the practice of keeping your mental and emotional space clean and steady. Whether you interpret “energy” spiritually or simply as your psychological bandwidth, the principle is practical and powerful.
So what is energy hygiene?
It’s the deliberate upkeep of your inner world. It means paying attention to what you’re carrying emotionally, letting go of what isn’t yours, and reinforcing the boundaries that protect your peace. Just as physical hygiene protects the body, energy hygiene protects your clarity, stability, and emotional resilience.

1. It Prevents Emotional Overload - Life comes with stress, conflict, and constant stimulation. Without regular internal resets, you can easily absorb other people’s moods — especially if you’re empathetic or work in high-pressure environments. Energy hygiene helps you clear out emotional buildup before it turns into burnout. That space creates calm, perspective, and steadiness.

2. It Improves Mental Clarity - Your brain performs best when it isn’t crowded by unresolved emotions or mental noise. Simple practices like mindfulness, grounding, or focused breathing act as resets. They help you think clearly, stay present, and make decisions from a balanced place rather than from stress.

3. It Strengthens Boundaries - Healthy boundaries are not optional — they’re essential. Energy hygiene sharpens your awareness of what belongs to you (your thoughts, responsibilities, emotions) and what doesn’t. That clarity makes it easier to say no, manage your time wisely, and stop carrying burdens that aren’t yours to hold.

4. It Enhances Emotional Regulation - Regularly checking in with yourself allows you to notice stress, frustration, or anxiety early. Awareness creates choice. Instead of reacting impulsively, you respond with intention. Over time, this builds emotional balance and healthier communication.

5. It Builds Resilience - When your inner space isn’t cluttered with accumulated stress, you recover from setbacks faster. You stay grounded in chaos. You bounce back without carrying yesterday’s weight into tomorrow.

6. It Supports Authentic Living - Clearing emotional and mental clutter allows your real voice to come forward. When you release old patterns and outside expectations, you act from alignment rather than pressure. You show up more present, more confident, and more genuinely yourself.

Your energy field is constantly communicating — with your environment, with the people around you, and with your inner world. In this immersive workshop, you’ll learn how to sense, understand, and work with your own energy in a grounded, practical, and empowering way.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is perfect if you:
•  Feel overwhelmed by other people’s emotions
•  Struggle to switch off after work
•  Find it hard to say no or set boundaries
•  Often feel drained in busy places or around others
•  Experience stress, anxiety, burnout, or brain fog
•  Work in a caring or people-focused role
Crockett created this workshop after noticing a regular imbalance in complimentary therapists who came to him. Often they hadn't been taught how to properly disconnect from their clients after a treatment, hadn't yet learned how to hold their boundaries, or were still energetically connected to them weeks later.

Although the exercises originally came from his training in western energy field healing (efh), he also saw similarities taught in traditional eastern medicine and shamanic teachings from all over the world.

Sarah and Crockett now teach these exercises based on Japanese shiatsu and western energy healing  in a way that's easier for a 21st century audience to learn and use daily for their own wellbeing.

Feedback from previous workshops

"My feedback was that it was fantastic. It gave me space and techniques I am already using.  Please say thanks to Crockett. I did a basket making course on the Sunday so had a really good weekend.  I never take time for myself, always running around after others so the workshop was very useful and pertinent.”

Your Workshop Hosts

Sarah Holder

Sarah has been practising Zen Shiatsu since 2004 when she qualified from the Shiatsu College in Bristol. In 2006 she went on to learn Energy Field Healing which increased her level of sensitivity to the energies (meridians) in the body and aura and gained greater understanding of how imbalances occur in our lives.

She is also a qualified advanced Shibashi Tai Chi Qigong Session Leader and runs local qigong classes in the Highlands.

As a Shiatsu Practitioner, she has helped many individuals recover from burnout, aches and pains, insomnia, anxiety, migraines, digestive issues and trauma held in the body.

Her approach is to help empower, promote inner freedom and have more fulfilling, compassionate relationships with ourselves and others and the world.

Crockett Cresswell

Crockett is an experienced energy healer and reiki master. His sensitivity to energy started in 1997 after two head injuries made him oversensitive to other people's energies, and started feeling their pain in his own body.

He has studied reiki, tai chi, qigong and shiatsu (completing 2 of the 3 years course) trying to learn how to switch off or turn down this sensitivity. In 2004 he studied Energy Field Healing which taught him many of the tools he uses today.

As a therapist he now helps people release their own imbalances by letting go of old energetic patterns held within the body and layers of the aura. He also provides support and coaching for those becoming sensitive to chi, or overwhelmed by their environment.
